Why become a FROSIO inspector?
Metallic materials are susceptible to corrosion, which significantly affects the stability and durability of components and structures. This is where FROSIO coating inspectors come in: they are experts in the planning, execution and acceptance of corrosion protection measures and guarantee high-quality protection of substrates – whether in shipbuilding, the oil and gas industry, machinery or bridges. As a FROSIO inspector you set the highest quality standards with your knowledge and ensure long-lasting results.

FAQs
FROSIO Paint
A FROSIO Coating Inspector monitors corrosion protection and coating work from planning through final acceptance. The inspector assesses surface preparation, environmental conditions, coating materials and applied coating thicknesses. They also document possible defects and support quality assurance in industrial corrosion protection.
To obtain certification, you complete training with SLV Duisburg, a FROSIO-approved training body. The course combines theoretical and practical content. You then take a theoretical and a practical examination. After passing both exams, you receive a FROSIO Level 1, 2 or 3 certificate depending on your professional experience.
There are generally no formal entry requirements for the FROSIO course. Candidates with limited professional experience may also attend the training and examinations. However, the documented professional experience determines whether the FROSIO certificate is issued at Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3.
A FROSIO-approved Coating Inspector course comprises 80 training hours. In the e-learning format, flexible self-study is supported by six webinars held once a week during the six weeks before the attendance phase. The four-day attendance phase includes practical training and examinations and may be offered at different locations.
Yes. The theoretical part of the FROSIO Coating Inspector training can be completed through e-learning. Multimedia learning materials, practice questions and six weekly webinars support exam preparation. Practical training and the theoretical and practical FROSIO examinations take place during a four-day phase at one of the available attendance locations.
FROSIO Level 1 is intended for candidates with less than two years of relevant experience. Level 2 requires at least two years of relevant experience. Level 3 requires at least five years of professional experience, including a minimum of two years of documented inspection experience in coating or corrosion protection.
FROSIO Insulation
A FROSIO Insulation Inspector monitors technical insulation from planning through final acceptance. The inspector checks materials, insulation classes, cladding, penetrations and correct installation. They also identify and document insulation defects, corrosion risks and deviations from standards or specifications.
To obtain certification, you attend an approved FROSIO Insulation Inspector course with theoretical and practical training. You must then pass both the theoretical and practical examinations. FROSIO assesses your documented professional experience and issues a Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3 certificate.
There are generally no formal entry requirements for the FROSIO insulation course. Technical personnel, planners, inspectors, supervisors and quality assurance specialists may participate regardless of their current experience level. Professional experience affects the later FROSIO certification level, not admission to the course.
Approved FROSIO Insulation Inspector training comprises 80 training hours and is normally delivered over approximately two weeks. The course combines theoretical lectures, practical exercises and the final FROSIO examinations.
The qualification concludes with a practical and a theoretical FROSIO examination. In the practical exam, you demonstrate that you can apply typical inspection methods and assess insulation defects. The theoretical exam covers topics including insulation classes, materials, corrosion, standards, specifications and inspection duties.
FROSIO Insulation Level 1 requires no or only limited relevant experience. Level 2 requires at least two years of relevant experience. Level 3 requires at least five years of professional experience, including a minimum of two years of documented inspection experience.
FROSIO Insulation Inspector training is particularly relevant to shipbuilding, marine and offshore installations, the energy sector, oil and gas facilities, the chemical industry, and industrial and plant engineering. It is suitable for insulation specialists, planners, supervisors, inspectors, designers and quality assurance personnel.
